Description

Chevrolet reintroduced the Impala SS in 1994. It was basically a high performance version of the Caprice Classic. It used the 9C1 police package as its base, so it got all the equipment formally reserved for law enforcement and government agencies. This included a sport-tuned suspension with reinforced shocks and springs, a high-capacity reverse-flow cooling system (derived from the Corvette's LT1), larger four-wheel disc brakes, transmission cooler, dual exhaust, a higher-output electrical system, and other minor mechanical alterations. The Impala SS was fitted with a standard 3.08 gear. The limited-slip rear differential was standard, and the suspension was an inch lower. A re-tuned LT1 5.7-liter (350 cu in) small-block V8 was standard on the Impala SS, making 260 hp, and 330 lbft of torque. the Impala SS also sported DeCarbon shocks, 12.1 inch anti-lock disc brakes, and 17 inch aluminum wheels with Z rated tires. The 1996 version also had a floor mounted console shift. This '96 SS has only 3,277 miles from new. It still has that new car smell when you step inside...and not out of a bottle either. This is truly a NEW used car. This is a big car cruiser that is surely to be collectible, just as the Impala SS s of the '60s. We're going out on a limb and saying that this is the nicest one in existence.
